I’ve been knitting since I can remember. My grandmother was a maker of all things - designing and knitting sweaters for herself, her family, and for sale in boutiques; sewing everything she could imagine for her children, her home, herself; and growing her own flowers and vegetables from seed in her backyard greenhouse. She also baked a killer lemon square. If she could dream it, she could make it! She passed these skills down to my mother, who fashioned my brother and me all kinds of wonderful things throughout our childhood and adolescence and kept the tradition of handmade strong in our family. Our handmade Halloween costumes always stole the show, and any outfit or accessory that I could think of could be mine thanks to the talented hands of my mom.

The passion to create has stayed with my all my life, as I went on to study Art & Design at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. From there, I moved to Melbourne, Australia and eventually to Bordeaux and then Paris, during which time I worked for 9 years in art galleries. I bathed in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual pool of creativity, soaking up every drop of inspiration from the artists and creatives I met and with whom I worked.

Endlessly inspired by the idea of handmade and one-of-a-kind, and deeply emboldened by the need for sustainability in our approach to fashion, mie knitwear was born. It seemed only logical to continue on the tradition of the talented women who raised me and spread my love of design, eco-responsibility and handmade confort to others, giving you too the opportunity to add one-of-a-kind handmade pieces to your wardrobe.
